With Marketing, You Need to Stir Emotional Connection

There’s an important aspect of marketing that many business owners don’t understand. They may understand it at a superficial and often annoying level but not in a sincere and valuable way. What we’re talking about is connecting with your audience in a way that stirs their emotions, not just their intellect. You need to create an emotional connection with your prospects.

No, we don’t mean you have to make them cry, take long walks on the beach, or have romantic dinners together. What we mean is that, they need to feel something that resonates with them about your business. Their needs to be an emotional connection, not just intellectual, to cause your target audience to move forward in the conversation with your business.

We definitely don’t mean that we want you to create false emotion or try to be manipulative. In 2020, for marketing to work, it must be genuine, truthful, and reach people directly about the things that are important to them.

Here’s what we mean about connecting with your audience in an emotional way:
  • Be genuine and speak to them like real people. To create an emotional connection, we can’t treat people like they are dumb and uninformed. We need to speak to them in ways that let them know you understand and can take care of their needs.
  • Have them believe you can solve their problems. You can have the most high production quality ads, videos, and articles but if they don’t believe you, none of it matters.
  • Likability is important. Again, for emotional connection you don’t need to become life long best friends. You simply need to be approachable, understanding, and give your audience a sense of comfort.
  • Don’t be fake! Answer all their questions. Provide full clarity and transparency. Be the source of real, useful information to help your prospects make informed buying decisions.

When your prospects feel like you understand them and have their best interests in mind, the rest of your marketing becomes a little bit more effective.
