How Soon Should I See Results From My Marketing Efforts?
How Soon Should I See Results From My Marketing Efforts? Is a question we get a lot from of our clients, especially new ones. Whether you are looking at your results from networking, website, social media, email marketing, ads, or whatever else. You should always look at the result this effort is providing you. Our answer put simply. If you’re doing everything right, a reasonable rule of thumb is 3 - 6 months. But the real answer is “it depends” What does it depend on? - Do you have a message that resonates with your audience? - Do you have a strategy you follow every day? - Have you gained trust from your marketplace? - Do you have metrics you measure? - Is your marketing consistent and delivered where your audience is? - Is your marketing being done thoroughly and properly? - An agency should do all of this for you. So if you’re not seeing any response after 6 months with an agency, it would be time to figure out why it’s not working. Excellence + Personal Marketing = New Clients
Recently, we’ve done shows about the importance of making marketing personal and how being excellent at what you do can be a key part of your marketing. When we say make it personal, we mean that your marketing must feel like you’re speaking directly to your audience. When we say excellent, we mean give your customer the best experience you can provide. Thank you Petra, for providing such a wonderful experience. Questions you Must Ask When Choosing a Web Designer
Maria got very fired up about this show. Let’s just say she’s had a bit of a frustrating time with a web designer this week and their lack of willingness to give the log in credentials to the new designer. She wanted to talk about the things you need to know and the questions you need to ask when choosing a web designer. Questions to ask… - Make sure the designer gives you the login credentials and everything you ever need to change designers. - Get, in writing, the way that you can leave the designer. - Make sure you know who owns the website and URL - Look at their work, previous websites - Make sure it’s designed with SEO that will get your site found - Make sure it’s mobile ready - Make sure that your designer understands all of Google’s rules. So, you don’t get penalized by Google and become invisible on the web. - Make sure you provide your designer with an understanding of your audience. - Insist on regular communication and input Find out more about Mike and Maria Keiser, The Entrepreneur Circle, and other small business solutions http://mentalcompass.com New Episodes every week. For Best Results: Blend Digital Marketing and Physical Marketing
Today’s show is dedicated to those businesses whose clients are mostly local – not 100% but mostly. Had a conversation last week with a business owner who has mainly grown his business through “physical” efforts We discussed how important digital marketing is but it can be very powerful when it’s combined with a physical presence. They enhance each other quite well. Our thought for today is that physical marketing can still be quite necessary and effective. We have found that our digital marketing is very effective after someone has met us. Why? Because, it instills a level of trust, that the digital marketing can’t convey. Ways to market in the physical - Chambers of commerce are still a great way to connect to potential business - Trade shows can still be useful - One on one meetings - Meetups - Social events - Associations - Speaking engagements - Direct communication can lead to a deeper relationship We know some of you don’t enjoy that kind of thing or it takes away from family time, but unless you have a massive budget for marketing, it’s still the best form of marketing. How to pick company to help you with Marketing
When you’re looking for a company to help with marketing, it's important to understand who you’re buying from. A Web Designer will build you the website you ask them to build you. A Graphic designer, will create the graphic you tell them to make for you. A social media company will post the material you tell them to post. It can be tricky, as a business owner, marketing can be this vague mysterious thing. Sometimes we think we know what our customers want to hear, but our marketing efforts don't produce or perform the way we expect. But what if you aren't totally clear on what you should be doing, and looking for guidance? It's possible you aren't hiring the right kind of company to help you. You may just be hiring a company that can perform a marketing function, but not necessarily help you get the right message out in the way it will be received. Questions you should ask of anyone you are considering buying marketing from - Will you help me understand my marketplace? - Will you help me understand my customers and their behaviors? - Will you hep me craft the right message to them? - Will you help me decide on tactics? - Will you review my current material? Once you have a clear understanding of your message, and customer behaviors, then you can choose the best tactic or tactics. How much does it cost to hire a marketing company?
We get asked all the time about how much it costs to hire a marketing agency/company. People are worried it can be very expensive. There are a ton of variables, which means you could pay somewhere between $500 and $10,000 a month. You can also choose between paying a monthly retainer or hire a company for project work. We do a combo of both. How much it will cost will greatly depend on what you need, and how much you need the Marketing agency to do. • Do you need a website? • Do you need Social media? • Do you need someone to write the copy? Do you need someone to shoot and produce Videos? • Do you need advertising? • What are your Internal capabilities? The more you can do on your own, the less it will cost. Pricing for most small businesses falls between $300 - $1500 per month. Hiring a Marketing Agency vs In-House Marketing
At some point in your business, the inevitable question will come up “should we do our marketing in house or hire an agency”? There’s not a clear right and wrong to this question. It depends on a number of factors: - Time - Do you or your staff have the time to dedicate to doing your own marketing? - Skillset – do you or anyone in your business have the skills? Can you hire an employee that has all the right skills? - Creativity – Do you or your marketing team possess the creativity to create a comprehensive, compelling marketing strategy? - Cost – Weigh which strategy will best fit your budget. Get an idea for the cost of hiring an agency vs how much it will cost you in time, employee time, or education. - Adaptability – Do you or your in house team have the ability to be adaptable to changes in your market or marketing strategies? The Best way to Get the Best Results From Your Marketing

Selling doesn’t have to be obnoxious, but it does mean communicating with people that need to know about what you offer. So for those “I hate selling” people, what should they be doing? Too bad, you need to sell. But you could be out there selling by… - Getting out and creating relationships - Proactively communicate your value to the right audience - Direct people you meet to all of your marketing - Reach out to LinkedIn connections to meet - Network - Your marketing and your sales efforts will feed each other Find out more about Mike and Maria Keiser, E Circle Marketing, and other small business marketing solutions http://mentalcompass.com New Episodes every week. Don’t Be Afraid to Stand Out
Today’s conversation is more about mindset than anything else From a marketing standpoint, many people are reluctant to bring the spotlight on themselves - Reluctant to post a lot on social - Reluctant to use edgy or bold communications - Lots of folks think that being humble is more polite, and a better way. We aren’t asking you to be obnoxious but there’s a big difference – assertively letting people know what you do, and hoping they will find you. Here’s what you can do - Communicate consistently and boldly - Understand that you have the most responsibility to get your brand to the world - Know that assertive does not mean aggressive - Your target audience needs to know and feel how you stand out. Being bold is vital to the success of your business.
